This is a 20-part series (2024) available on NetFlix. Each episode is 35 to 43 minutes long.

Synopsis on NetFlix

An accident changes the course of Perla's and Antonia's lives. Broken in the aftermath, Perla is given a new purpose and is hellbent on revenge.

OVERALL SUMMARY - SPOILER

The feuding sisters Perla and Antonia are out to seek revenge for the path their lives took, blaming each other for what happened. What initially started as an interesting revenge plot with hidden identities later changed. The other supporting characters were Perla's birthdaughter Jacinta (J pronounced with an H) and Antonia's adopted son Pedro.

The main characters were okay. Nothing I would write home about. Even though Perla's character plays the protagonist, I feel that the antagonist's character (Antonia) is stronger and more well-played.

TICKLED MY FANCY (HIGHLIGHTS)

  • Antonia's character - The character was strong and confident.

  • There were a few unexpected twists.

A WORD OF CAUTION (LOWLIGHTS)

  • If you know me by now, you will know my pet peeves... the length of the series and dubbed movies. Even though subtitles help, it looks and sounds too fake.

    • The length of the series did not make sense. The whole series could have been completed in a short 6 to 8 episodes. It was unnecessarily dragged on to 20 episodes. I started out wanting to watch a series for the weekend, and this was the first thing that popped up. Later, I did not want to leave it unfinished. That's why I continued to watch it. Once again, I will say that I am all for a long series with multiple seasons as long as it is engaging to the end. This just did not seem to hit the mark with me.

  • A lot of words sounded fake in English, like the overuse of 'my love'. Maybe it sounds good in the original language.

  • I was not a fan of most of the actors. I found almost all of them rather amateurish.

My overall rating is a 4 out of 10.
