Updated: Dec 3, 2024

This series is available on NetFlix, with the final episode in 2022. Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, and the news is that Season 3 stands cancelled. I have seen a few posts on Reddit about the unknown parts of this series, but I will leave that to you to find. I will say that even though it is horrible for the series to be cancelled after ending in a cliffhanger, all hope is not lost. The movie series is from a book series by Karen McManus, which is available on Amazon. Seasons 1 and 2 have eight episodes each, with the timeline for each episode being anywhere between 45 and 52 minutes.

Synopsis on NetFlix

Schools are in session as blogger Simon gets set to expose his classmates' deepest secrets. Then, a death in detention turns up the heat on four students.

OVERALL SUMMARY - SPOILER

If you are a teenager who is into reading Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys novels, then you may find this series right up your alley.

As the series continued, I got bored because even though I was right there playing the guessing game and wanting to find out who did it, I kept getting lost in a lot of unnecessary play. I am all for a good series with a solid plot and something that will hold my attention, but this one seemed to disappoint in more ways than one.

TICKLED MY FANCY (HIGHLIGHTS)

  • The book - I may just read the book to find out what happens after this because since I spent time watching 2 seasons, I may as well invest in the book to see how it plays out.

  • I loved the fresh look on teenagers in an environment which can make or break them. There was a modern take on school and what can go wrong having a snowball effect.

A WORD OF CAUTION (LOWLIGHTS)

  • Although I was not so impressed with the series, I will say that it is disappointing that it got cancelled without closing the loose ends.

  • Gay scenes - This seems to be the 'in thing' for almost every movie I watch now, subtle or otherwise. So if that's your thing, then this point should not deter you because it was teenage gay milder scenes.

My overall rating is a 3 out of 10. This rating is for the movie series, which did not end appropriately. I have not read the book, so I cannot comment on that.
